Together, as Australians, we can achieve much.

My Goal is to work with you, my colleagues, and all other positively minded Australians for the betterment of our country, particularly that part of our nation in the north, which, with only about 6% of the population, produces around a third of its export wealth.

I have been appointed to the Opposition Front Bench as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader, with special responsibilities for Northern Australia and I want to do my utmost to develop policies that highlight the contribution that this part of Australia, north of the Brisbane line, makes to our country.

The economy and jobs are important to northerners. Both have done well under Peter Costello's careful management and John Howard's leadership.  The new Government in Australia has made many promises and one of my duties will be to hold them accountable for the promises they made to the people of Queensland. 

But people are our most important asset and the Liberal Party strives to advance the welfare and lifestyle of all Australians.

For the next three years, as a regionally based Senator, I intend to be the "alterntive" member for Capricornia, Flynn, Kennedy and Leichhardt and would be happy in my role as a Queensland Senator to assist residents with any issue they may have with the Federal Government.

Finally, I welcome input of your suggestions and concerns.  Good government requires a good opposition but with the new government drastically cutting back on resources for the Opposition, our job becomes very difficult and without your help in providing information and research.  I seek your assistance as we develop new policies and hold the government accountable for its promises and actions.
