GET WIRED WITH HEYWIRE

06 August, 2008

Townsville’s young people have been put on notice to get creative and start documenting their own life experiences to enter into the ABC’s Heywire competition.
North Queensland Senator, Ian Macdonald, said that the Heywire competition is all about rural and regional young people telling their stories in their own words, through a medium they are comfortable with and excel at.
“The Heywire competition has been running for 10 years and it gives young people a way to express their thoughts, concerns and hopes about living and working in rural and regional Australia.
“Their stories can be presented in a variety of mediums, including written word, audio, pictures or moving images.
“It is also an opportunity to show those in the city, that those living in the bush are just as talented as they are.
“The winner of Heywire has a chance of a lifetime to have the opportunity for their story to be professional produced and broadcast by the ABC.
“I have been an ardent supporter of Heywire since its inception, and strongly encourage the young people of Townsville to get creative and submit their unique stories to the Heywire competition” Senator Macdonald said.
Entries to Heywire close on Friday 5 September 2008.
