The Member for Dawson, Mr James Bodgood has shown his true colours when it comes to supporting pensioners in his electorate, by refusing to support the Coalitions bill to introduce an immediate payment of $30 extra per week for pensioners.
North Queensland Liberal Senator, Ian Macdonald, today slammed Mr Bidgood for turning his back on pensioners who are in desperate need of an increase now, rather than after another review by the Rudd Government.
“Mr Bidgood has had ample opportunity to speak up for the pensioners in his electorate who are barely able to survive on the current pension, yet we have not heard one word from him.
“The Coalition’s policy is a real solution to an immediate problem. It is not a full solution, but it will provide relief at a time when the stress of just putting food on the table is at all time high for those on the pension.
“The silence from Mr Bidgood and his Labor colleagues speaks more to the people in need, than any amount of Rudd Government spin and rhetoric” Senator Macdonald said.
