ALVA BEACH ROAD OFFICIAL OPENING

SS Yongala Road at Alva Beach will be officially opened tomorrow by Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Northern and Remote Australia, Senator Ian Macdonald.

The project was completed by the Alva Sports, Recreation and Community Association with assistance from the Recreational Fishing Community Grants Programme.

Senator Ian Macdonald commended the Alva Sports, Recreation and Community Association for their hard work and commitment to see the project through to completion.

“This project was jointly funded by the Department of Fisheries but those who deserve the most credit are the dedicated members of the Alva Sports, Recreation and Community Association

“This road will be enjoyed primarily fisherman but is a great asset for the whole Alva beach community.

“I was very pleased to be officially open the road tomorrow and look forward to coming down here soon with my tinny and giving it a test run.

The road was completed with a $100,000 grant from the Department of Fisheries under the Recreational Fishing Community Grants Programme which was initiated by Senator Macdonald when he was Commonwealth Fisheries Minister.
