The Mixing it… Art Exhibition at the Gympie Regional Gallery has been described as a wonderful promotion of the amazing talents that can be found in regional Australia.
Queensland Senator Ian Macdonald, Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Northern and Remote Australia, travelled to Gympie to officially open the exhibition and congratulate the featured artists Narelle Webber and Jean McAuley.
“I am delighted to be part of this very pleasant and exciting occasion – the opening of this Exhibition of the very fine art of two wonderfully capable and talented local artists Jean McAuley and Narelle Webber,” said Senator Macdonald.
“It is always a pleasure to help promote the talent that can be found in regional communities like Gympie.
“Over recent years my visits to the Mary Valley have been tainted with conflict and protest resulting from insensitive Government decisions but today’s visit is much more uplifting as it brings out the joy and goodwill that is so much the real ambience of this area.
Senator Macdonald said that exhibitions like Mixing it… are extremely important in capturing and communicating the beauty of the Australian landscape.
“As a Queenslander I am proud to be supporting local artists who are able to tell a story about themselves, their community or their environment through their magnificent works.
“I hope that this exhibition serves to inspire and motivate the next generation of Mary Valley artists,” said Senator Macdonald.
Senator Macdonald will officially open the Mixing It… exhibition tomorrow in Gallery 3 at the Gympie Regional Gallery at 1pm.
