PATTERN OF FAILURE + HOSPITALS = DISASTER

The Rudd Labor Government cannot be trusted with North Queensland’s hospitals according to the Shadow Parliamentary Spokesman for Northern and Remote Australia, Senator Ian Macdonald.

Senator Macdonald said that since their election in 2007, Mr. Rudd and his Ministers have revealed a pattern of failure in everything they have tried to do and cannot possibly ask the people in the North to trust them with their hospitals.

“When Mr. Rudd decided to give away ceiling insulation he went way over budget, electrified  homes,  burnt down houses, electrocuted people’s children, couldn’t sack the Minister responsible and then launched an enquiry.

“When Mr. Rudd decided to giveaway buildings to schools he wasted taxpayer money, gave schools buildings they didn’t want, denied anything was wrong and then launched an enquiry.

“When Mr. Rudd decided to scrap the Coalitions border protection policies he lay out the welcome mat to illegal immigrants, let boats go undetected to the jetty at Christmas Island, filled the offshore detention centre in record time, gave out special deals to 78 Tamils after they refused to get of the Oceanic Viking and continues to blame it all on ‘push factors’.

“With such a consistent pattern of failure, how can Mr. Rudd fly into the North and expect people to trust him with their hospitals.

“Mr. Rudd promised last election that 7,750 nurses would come back to work in hospitals He promised ‘to end the blame game’ and fix public hospitals by mid-2009 and said he would retain the Medicare safety net. He has failed to deliver any of these promises. Why should we trust him now?

“Queenslanders know Anna Bligh is are hopeless with health, for the last month she hasn’t even been able to pay our doctors and nurses, but is Kevin Rudd any better?

“Last time Kevin Rudd was involved in Queensland’s health system he scrapped local hospital boards and earned the nickname ‘Dr Death’, why on earth would we trust him again?

“If Mr. Rudd gets hold of our hospitals he will just continue with his pattern of failure,” Senator Macdonald said.
