The passing of a resolution to call for a referendum for a new state for North Queensland is a massive vote of no confidence in State and Federal Labor and Independent Members of Parliament.
The resolution passed by western shires at the North Queensland Local Government Association meeting in Normanton and the Western Queensland Local Government Association in Boulia had the effect of drawing attention to the rotten deal the north gets from State and Federal Labor Governments.
It also shows that politicians in State and Federal Parliaments representing North Western Queensland and Cape York Peninsular have been ineffective in getting a better deal for the north.
