Following the lead of her predecessor Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard has now shown that she is the master of the political backflip.
This dodgy deal on the mining tax is designed to get Julia Gillard through the election period but contains no long term solutions for the damage already inflicted on Northern Australia.
Much of the wealth of the nation is mined and processed North of the Tropic of Capricorn but the damage done for investment in the North by the worry of the Labor party’s agenda will take a change of government to fix. Investors will rightly be worried about leaving Labor in charge of Taxes. Who knows what crazy hair brained scheme will pop from the minds of Julia Gillard and Wayne Swan if they are returned to Government?
The clever manipulation of budget figures will not hide the fact that Wayne Swan’s budget, brought down just seven weeks ago, is in tatters.
How could northerners ever believe anything the Gillard/Swan/Rudd Government will ever say?
